From Cocoon to Cloth: Our Journey of Making Authentic Bhagalpuri Tussar Silk Sarees

We are weavers from Bhagalpur, the land that the world knows as the Silk City of India.
For us, Bhagalpuri silk is not just a fabric — it is our inheritance, our daily work, and our pride.

This is the story of how we create pure Bhagalpuri Tussar Silk sarees, starting from a simple cocoon to a beautiful handwoven masterpiece.

It All Begins with the Tussar Cocoon

Our journey starts in the forests, where tussar silkworms grow naturally on trees. These silkworms create cocoons that carry raw silk inside them.
Unlike regular silk, tussar silk is wild, natural, and untouched by chemicals.

We carefully collect these cocoons and dry them under the sun. Every cocoon is precious — it holds the future of a Bhagalpuri silk saree.

Extracting Tussar Silk by Hand

Once the cocoons are ready, we boil them gently to soften the fibers.
Then comes one of the most delicate steps — hand extraction of tussar silk threads.

Using traditional tools, we slowly pull out the silk fibers. This process needs patience and experience. A small mistake can break the thread.
The uneven texture you see in Bhagalpuri silk comes from this natural hand process — and that is its true beauty.

Spinning the Yarn: Where Skill Meets Tradition

After extracting the silk, we spin it into yarn. This is done manually, just like our ancestors did decades ago.
The yarn is then cleaned, twisted, and prepared for weaving.

At this stage, the silk already carries its natural golden sheen, which no artificial shine can ever match.

Handloom Weaving: The Heart of Bhagalpuri Silk

Now comes the soul of our work — the handloom.

Each Bhagalpuri Tussar silk saree is woven slowly, thread by thread, on a traditional handloom.
There are no machines, no shortcuts. One saree can take 7 to 15 days, sometimes even more, depending on the design.

As we weave, we don’t just make a saree —
we weave stories, culture, and generations of knowledge into it.

Natural Dyes and Simple Designs

Most of our Bhagalpuri silk sarees use natural or mild dyes.
The colors remain earthy, elegant, and timeless — perfect for women who love grace over loudness.

The designs are inspired by:

  • Nature
  • Traditional motifs
  • Rural life
  • Temple art

Every saree has a calm, raw, and royal feel.

Why Our Bhagalpuri Tussar Silk Is Different

What makes our silk special is not perfection, but authenticity.

  • 100% handwoven
  • Natural tussar silk
  • Breathable and comfortable
  • Slightly textured, never too smooth
  • Made by skilled Bhagalpur weavers

No two sarees are exactly the same — because they are made by human hands, not machines.

Wearing a Bhagalpuri Silk Saree Is Wearing a Legacy

When you wear a Bhagalpuri Tussar silk saree,
you wear:

  • the hard work of a weaver
  • the patience of handloom weaving
  • the tradition of Bhagalpur
  • and the beauty of natural silk

You become a part of our story.

Our Promise as Weavers

We don’t chase fast fashion.
We believe in slow, sustainable, and soulful weaving.

Every saree we make carries honesty, skill, and respect for our craft.
This is how Bhagalpuri silk has survived for centuries — and this is how we continue to keep it alive.
